JF Moving Services
— a written flat rate and the same Honolulu crew, with your things in our custody until they’re on the barge or container we booked.

Every mover on our trucks has carried boxes up a Kalihi walk-up or worked a barge cutoff at Honolulu Harbor more times than they can count, so a tight stairwell or a sailing deadline is nothing new by the time our truck pulls up. Book a neighbor-island or mainland shipment and you still get a same-week slot at no rush premium, plus one written flat rate that doesn’t move once the truck is loaded. No subcontractors, no unnamed warehouse in between — the same local crew that quoted your job carries it all the way to the barge or container we booked.

Why Honolulu families call us first

What makes JF Moving Services different

One written flat rate before move day, and the same local crew from pickup to the barge, container, or your new front door. That’s been true since 2016.

Crews Who Already Know Honolulu

Every mover on our trucks has carried boxes up a Kalihi walk-up or timed a job around a Young Brothers barge cutoff more times than they can count. Your crew already knows which downtown loading zones clear out fastest and which streets need a smaller truck, before you finish giving the address.

Same-Week Slots For Barge And Container Bookings

A neighbor-island barge slot or a mainland container booking doesn’t wait six weeks for an opening, so neither do we. Same-week slots stay open for Young Brothers and Matson bookings at no rush premium, and Kekoa still quotes those jobs himself.

Licensed With The Hawaii PUC

We hold a Hawaii PUC household-goods carrier certificate plus interstate US DOT and MC authority on file, with up to $1,000,000 in cargo coverage per shipment. A property manager or an HOA board asking for proof gets a certificate the same day.

Ikaika Plans Around The Sailing Schedule Before You See A Truck

H-1 rush hour, the Pali and Likelike tunnel backups, and the next Young Brothers barge cutoff — Ikaika builds the day’s truck board around all of it before a crew ever leaves the yard, so your slot on the vessel holds.

You Get Kekoa, Not A Script

Call the office and Kekoa, or someone off the crew, picks up — not a call center reading from a screen three states away. Whoever answers can already see your date and your crew on the board.

Trusted Across Oahu

Who’s on the truck

One crew quotes it.
The same crew shows up.

Every truck and every mover on it works directly for JF Moving Services — nothing gets handed off to a subcontractor mid-job, and nothing sits in an unnamed warehouse waiting on a callback. Whether it’s a walk-up in Kalihi, a condo tower near downtown, or a shipment headed out to Maui or all the way to the mainland, the same crew that quoted the job stays with it until it’s off our hands and onto the vessel we booked.

Jason Freitas grew up in Kalihi, the son of a longshoreman who worked the container yards at Honolulu Harbor, so freight schedules and barge cutoffs were dinner-table talk before he ever ran a crew of his own. In his twenties he loaded and dispatched for a regional freight forwarder at Sand Island, then came back in 2016 to open JF Moving Services out of a single rented truck, on one rule he still repeats to every new hire: nothing leaves our hands until we hand it to the carrier ourselves. Meet Jason and the rest of the crew on our About page.

Local Movers in Honolulu

Two movers and a truck run $145 an hour, and the figure on your written quote is the figure on the final bill—no line-item surprises after the fact. Bronson's crew threads H-1 rush hour and the Pali and Likelike tunnel backups often enough that a midday load doesn't turn into an evening ordeal.

We book your barge slot with Young Brothers or your container with Matson or Pasha ourselves, and the crew that packs you in Honolulu stays with the load until it's checked onto the vessel. One written flat rate, no depot handoff to a name we've never met.

Residential Movers in Honolulu

Leaving a walk-up in Kalihi or moving into a fresh build in Kapolei, the same crew that loads your truck is the crew that carries everything in at the other end—nobody hands your job off partway through. The flat rate on your quote is locked before move day, not adjusted after.

Office and retail moves get scheduled around your operating hours, weekends included, and everything gets labeled by desk and department so Monday opens with working phones instead of a box-hunting scavenger hunt. Working outside business hours costs the same as working inside them.

Full Packing Service in Honolulu

Kekoa can quote a whole-house pack over the phone, and the crew arrives with dish packs, wardrobe boxes, and moisture-resistant wrap built for a barge or container crossing—sturdier than what a mainland-only move would need. Every box gets logged at pickup, item by item.

Partial Packing Help in Honolulu

Pack the closets yourself and hand us the kitchen, the garage, and anything genuinely breakable. It bills at the same hourly rate as the move itself, so there's no separate packing price sheet to figure out.

How your things actually get handled

What we do to your things before the truck even moves

Every Piece Gets A Once-Over First

Elson’s crew walks each room with you before a single blanket goes on, photographing anything that already has a scratch or a dent. That inventory log travels with your shipment, so nobody’s guessing later what the truck actually showed up to find.

Floors, Doors, And Banisters Get Protected First

Floor runners, corner guards, and banister padding go down at pickup and again at delivery before anything gets lifted, so your old stairwell and the new one both come through the day without a scuff.

Disassembled, Bagged, And Tracked

Bed frames, dining tables, cribs — anything that needs to come apart for the ride gets taken down, and Bronson’s crew bags the hardware and tapes it straight to the piece so nothing goes missing between doors.

Fragile Items Get Their Own Carton, Not A Gap To Wedge Into

TVs, mirrors, and framed art all get a dedicated carton with real corner padding, boxed by the same mover who carried the piece out of the room.

Heavy Pieces Ride A Dolly, Never Get Wrestled

Anything heavy goes on a dolly with a real tie-down strap, which matters on the walk-ups near downtown Honolulu and the steep driveways up in Kaneohe.

One Crew, Start To Finish

The same crew that loads the first box carries in the last one — no relief shift, no stranger showing up after lunch. The $85 deposit that held your date comes straight off the final bill, and it still matches the written flat rate you were quoted.

Beyond Oahu

Where we ship beyond Honolulu

We ship to all four neighbor islands — Maui, the Big Island, Kauai, and Molokai — by Young Brothers barge, and to the mainland — Los Angeles, Seattle, Las Vegas, and San Diego — by Matson or Pasha Hawaii container ship. Kai rides along on every one of them, confirms the load is checked onto the vessel himself, and hands you the booking confirmation the same day.

Got some flex on your move date? Mid-week dates and anything outside a tight barge or container sailing window go on the board quickest — mention it when you call and we’ll point you at the calmest slot. Last-minute bookings around an open barge slot still go to the front of the line.

Move day, broken into three steps

Three steps. One crew, start to finish.

01

Tell Kekoa The Basics

Send Kekoa your two addresses and a rough room count, and a written flat rate comes back the same day — no walkthrough needed just to talk numbers.

02

Your Crew And Sailing Date Get Locked In

Pick a date and a named crew goes on the board for you; if the move is headed to a neighbor island or the mainland, Ikaika books your barge or container slot with Young Brothers, Matson, or Pasha the same week. Building management or an HOA wants a COI? Ours lands before move day.

03

Same Crew Loads It And Stays With It

Your crew loads the truck, drives it across Oahu, and carries everything through the new front door — or stays with it until it’s checked onto the barge or container we booked, so it never leaves our hands. The flat rate you were quoted in writing is the number on the final bill.

Straight answers

Honolulu questions we hear every week

Are you a moving company, or a lead broker?

We’re the moving company, not a lead broker. Every truck is titled to JF Moving Services, every mover on it draws a paycheck from us, and the same crew that quotes your job stays with it until it’s on the vessel we booked.

What does an estimate cost, and does the price change on move day?

Estimates are free. Kekoa puts together a written flat rate from your two addresses and a rough room count, usually the same day, and that’s the number the crew works from — no surprise fuel line, container fee, or hourly bump once you’re loaded.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes — JF Moving Services is a licensed and insured Oahu mover, registered with the Hawaii PUC for household-goods work across Honolulu and every neighbor island, with up to $1,000,000 in cargo coverage per shipment. A certificate for your building or HOA goes out the same day you ask.

Can you fit a last-minute barge or container booking?

Yes — we hold same-week slots for exactly that, at no rush premium. Jason still takes those calls himself, because a Young Brothers cutoff or a Matson sailing date doesn’t wait six weeks for an opening.

How far ahead should I book?

Two to three weeks gives you the most flexibility, especially for a neighbor-island or mainland shipment tied to a specific sailing date. Midweek local dates open up sooner, and every so often a couple of days’ notice turns out to be plenty.

What if my move-in date changes after I book?

Give our office a heads-up and the booking moves with you, or cancels, without a fee — even for a barge delay out of Honolulu Harbor. Your quote and crew notes stay on file, so rescheduling doesn’t mean starting the paperwork over.

Ready to get your move on the board?

From the first phone call to the moment your things are checked onto the vessel we booked, the same local crew handles your move, and the flat rate you were quoted in writing is the rate you pay — nothing added once the truck is loaded. Send over the details of your move and a written number comes back the same day.
